I know a guy that convinced me to invest in his so called business and I did and I never got my money back?

I know a guy New York that convinced me to invest in his so called business and I did and I never got my money back. I was promised to have my money and interest back within 30 days then he bought more time and now it's been a year and he's still giving me fake dates. He is obviously never going to give me my money. I have tons of emails going back and forth with the guy. He does admit he has my investment but I did give him the money in cash. Can anyone please advise me.
