Whats with all the stealing of peoples emails going on now?

I have recieved 2 emails in the past week from Play.com and Tripadvisor.com telling me that there had been a security breach and some peoples email addresses have been stolen.. I'm scared. They warned us that we might get sent spam. Does this mean that the spammers are going to take money from me???
